Dit wordt beschouwd als het \"originele\" Luna Park en is ook het beroemdste van allemaal. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De oorsprong van de naam van het park is onzeker. E\u00e9n theorie is dat het vernoemd is naar een luchtschip dat een van de belangrijkste attracties van het park was. Een andere theorie is dat het vernoemd is naar de zus van een van de oprichters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1905 opende een achtbaaningenieur met de naam Frederick Ingersoll twee nieuwe Luna Parks in Pittsburgh en Cleveland. In 1907 werd een vierde Luna Park geopend in Seattle, Washington, door Charles Loof die ook een van de oprichters was van het eerste Luna Park op Coney Island.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Later opende Frederic Ingersoll nog eens 44 andere Luna Parks over de hele wereld. Daarmee cre\u00eberde hij de eerste keten van Luna Parks ter wereld. Om ze te onderscheiden van de andere Luna Parks waar hij geen banden mee had, koos hij ervoor om ze voor korte tijd \"Ingersoll's Luna Parks\" te noemen. Toen hij in 1927 overleed, werden de meeste van zijn parken gesloten. Deze gebeurtenis hield het gebruik van de naam in toekomstige parken echter niet tegen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Na de Tweede Wereldoorlog begonnen onafhankelijke showmannen pretparken te openen op vaste locaties die alleen in de zomer open waren. De showmannen waren de eigenaars van hun individuele attracties en verzamelden zich om meer klanten aan te trekken. De meeste van deze parken werden geopend rond de Middellandse Zee en de atlantische kust en heetten <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Park van Luna<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. De belangrijkste verschillen tussen deze Luna Parken en de eerste parken waren 1) dat deze nieuwe parken eigendom waren van verschillende onafhankelijke eigenaren in plaats van \u00e9\u00e9n bedrijf, en 2) dat de nieuwe parken geen pretparken met attracties waren, maar eerder mobiele kermissen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tegenwoordig is de term <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Park van Luna<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (soms ook gespeld <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lunapark<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) betekent \"kermis\" of \"pretpark\" in veel talen, een beetje zoals het woord <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tivoli<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wordt geassocieerd met kermissen, tuinen en bioscopen.
